5xEvents helps students, faculty and organisers discover and host college events across India. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and in plain language.
What we collect#
- Your Google profile when you sign in: name, email address, profile photo and a Google account ID. We never see or store your Google password.
- Content you create: events, organizer profiles, images, descriptions, contact details you add to a listing, and edits you make.
- Activity on 5xEvents: events you mark as interested, sign-in times, and basic technical data such as browser type and IP address used for security.
- Messages you send us through the contact form: your name, email, topic and message.
How we use it#
- To run your account and keep you signed in.
- To publish and review the events and organizers you submit.
- To send service emails, such as “your event is live” or “quick fixes needed”. We do not send marketing email without asking first.
- To keep 5xEvents safe: preventing spam, abuse and fake listings.
- To understand what is working so we can improve the product.
What is public#
Published events and organizer profiles are public by design, including any contact details you choose to add to them. Your account email is never shown on public pages.
Sharing#
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run 5xEvents (hosting, file storage and email delivery), under contracts that keep it confidential, or when the law requires it.
Cookies and sessions#
We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in and to protect forms from abuse. We do not use advertising cookies.
Your choices#
- Edit or delete your events and organizer profiles at any time from My Events and My Organizers.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to delete your account, by writing to hi@5xevents.com.
- Revoke 5xEvents’ access from your Google Account settings whenever you like.
How long we keep data#
We keep account data while your account is active. Past events stay listed as part of the public archive unless you remove them. Contact messages are deleted once they are no longer needed to help you.
Security#
Data is encrypted in transit, sessions are signed, and access to admin tools is limited to the 5xEvents team. No system is perfect, so please tell us right away if you notice anything suspicious.
Children#
5xEvents is meant for users aged 13 and above. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy#
If we make meaningful changes we will update the date at the top of this page, and for bigger changes we will let signed-in users know.
